Billing

Still typing invoices by hand?
Turn logged time into invoices.

Raise an invoice from a matter’s unbilled time and expenses, with the client’s discount and GST worked out. Then track what each client owes, record payments and keep a ledger of client money held in trust.

What Billing does.

Invoices from logged time

Pick a matter and generate. Each priced billable time entry becomes a line with date, work, timekeeper, hours and rate, followed by billable expenses.

Hourly, flat or contingency

The invoice follows the matter’s fee arrangement: a line per time entry, a single flat-fee line, or a contingency line, with expenses added in each case.

Discount and GST worked out

The client’s standing discount comes off the subtotal, then GST is calculated and shown line by line before the total.

Numbered by financial year

Invoice numbers run without gaps for each Indian financial year, such as INV/2026-27/00042. Print any invoice or save it as a PDF.

Billed work is locked

Generating an invoice locks the time and expenses on it, so nobody can change billed work. Void the invoice and they go back to unbilled.

Payments and ageing

Mark invoices sent, record full or part payments, and see outstanding balances split into not due, 1–30, 31–60, 61–90 and 90+ days.

Client trust ledger

Record receipts, disbursements, refunds and transfers of client money by client and matter, and see what is received, paid out and held.

Pay invoices from trust

Apply held funds to an invoice, up to the balance held for that client and matter, and the payment is recorded on the invoice.

Effective-dated rate cards

Set each client’s default hourly rate and per-person rates from a start date, plus a standing discount. Past entries keep the rate they were priced at.
